Capacity and Lead-Time Planner

Estimate how your backlog, crew availability, and next job combine across fabrication, finishing, and installation.

Shared shop rates

Save rates once and apply them when needed. Labor is cost per productive person-hour; overhead is separate. Values are stored only in this browser.

Example inputs. Replace them with your shop’s numbers.

Production stages in order

Use the same person-hour basis for backlog and new-job work. Utilization reduces nominal availability. Do not count one person as available in two stages at the same time.

Results

This assumes separate capacity for each stage and sequential work on the new job. For a one-person shop, use a single combined stage.

How this is calculated

  • Weekly capacity = people × hours per person × utilization.
  • Existing queue = backlog person-hours ÷ weekly capacity. New work duration = new job person-hours ÷ weekly capacity.
  • Begin with material lead time. At each stage, completion = max(previous completion, existing queue) + new work duration.

All money inputs use USD. Calculations retain full precision; displayed amounts are rounded. Drafts save on this device when browser storage is available. Export your worksheet to keep a separate copy.
